Guitars

“I’ve been a Fret-King Guitars artist for many years and started working with them and using their guitars way back in 2012. I’ve amassed several of them over the years but I’ve mostly used the ‘Eclat’, which I got from them first and the ‘Corona’ which has been my main guitar for the past few years. They have been on every Mentulls record/tour ever since.”

“Apart from my Fret-Kings I also often tour and record with two Hamers; a 1980 Sunburst and a SATF Archtop. In addition I have a Sonic Blue Fender Stratocaster with me sometimes on the road!”

Amplifiers

“I’ve used several different brands of amps over the years. Marshall, Fender, Egnater but mostly Blackstar Amps. I’ve been a Blackstar artist for nearly as long as I’ve been using Fret-King Guitars. The HT-20 head was my go to amp for many years. More recently though I’ve been using the BluGuitar AMP1 as my main amplifier through two Egnater 1×12 Cabinets. I love the sound of the AMP1 and it’s such a revolutionary piece of equipment. So light and compact and sounds awesome. Great for flying shows too!”

Pedalboard

“For years I didn’t use any effects apart from the built-in Reverb on whatever my choice of amp was at the time. After recording the Reflections album I had to get a Strymon Lex Leslie Simulator and a TC Electronic Delay as we had used some of those sounds while recording the album (we used a real Leslie 145 on the album and an old fuzz called the ‘AF-100 BeeBaa’ made by Roland!). I’ve also always got a Tone City ‘Angel Wing’ chorus on the board too which I leave on most of the time.”
